The F-1 and F-2 articulated arm units need a fabricated pivot plate with specific 5-inch center-to-center hole spacing, anything else and the arm geometry goes off within ten cycles. The G-5 underground swing operator uses a custom-welded clevis pin and torsion arm assembly that Viking ships as a matched set, part number dependent on gate weight class.

To identify what you need, check the silver Viking data plate on the motor housing for the series letter and two-digit revision. Then measure your existing bracket or hinge pin with a tape measure, not a guess. We carry OEM Viking weldments and quality aftermarket equivalents from GateCrafters and Aleco, the latter machined to Viking spec but not stamped with the logo. For the G-5 underground units, we recommend OEM only, the aftermarket clevis pins we’ve tested in Hialeah’s coral-rock soil tend to gall at the threads within eighteen months.

DIY or Call Us?

There is a safe middle ground here. You can check whether the bracket bolts are loose with a socket set, measure the gate for plumb with a four-foot level, and verify the Viking model number on the data plate. What you should not do is cut, grind, or weld gate hardware yourself. The torsion on a swing gate, especially one with a Viking operator still attached, can shift unexpectedly when you remove a load-bearing bracket. And any weld that holds a 400-pound gate needs penetration and stress-relieving that a 110-volt flux-core unit from a big-box store will not deliver.
